Fees

Initial licensure application fee

The application fee for initial licensure is $75 when submitting an online application.

Annual license renewal

CPAs must renew their license annually. The annual fee is $60. There is an additional $25 fee for renewals by check.

Reinstatement of individual license

The reinstatement of an individual license includes a $350 fee.

Duplicate CPA wall certificate

Request a duplicate CPA wall certificate for $25 by logging in and making a document request.

Verification of licensure – For current CPAs only

The verification of licensure includes CPA exam scores, confirmation of AICPA Ethics Exam, disciplinary actions and the status of license with the VBOA. A verification of licensure transferred to a board of accountancy in another state or jurisdiction can be requested by logging in on the VBOA website. Online requests are $25.

If the verification of licensure needs to be sent to an employer, a professional organization, for personal use, etc., the request cannot be made online. CPAs will mail a written request with a non-refundable check made payable to the Treasurer of Virginia for $50 to the VBOA.

All fees are non-refundable and payments returned by the bank for insufficient funds are subject to a returned payment fee, pursuant to Code of Virginia § 2.2-4805.

Fees may be partially waived under extreme circumstances or military deployment. Written documentation must be submitted to the VBOA.
