Exam application fee
The VBOA requires a non-refundable application fee of $120 upon submission of the online application. After the candidate application has been approved and processed by the VBOA, the candidate will receive an approval email explaining the payment coupon and Notice to Schedule (NTS) process.
Exam section fee
The total CPA exam fees for each exam section are $226.15. The fees are paid directly to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. If an exam candidate has any issues during the payment process, please contact NASBA Candidate Care at 1-866-696-2722.
Note: If candidates choose to provide a Virginia DMV control number, instead of a Social Security number during the online application process there will be an additional $67.50 fee by NASBA for each payment coupon received.
The VBOA requires a fee of $20 for every re-exam request submitted. This includes each time a candidate applies for one or multiple CPA exam sections.
CPA exam score transfers
The VBOA requires an exam score transfer fee of $25 for candidates requesting an exam score be transferred from Virginia to another state. Complete the CPA Exam Score Transfer Form and submit it to the VBOA with the fee.
All fees are non-refundable and payments returned by the bank for insufficient funds are subject to a returned payment fee, pursuant to Code of Virginia § 2.2-4805.
Fees may be partially waived under extreme circumstances or military deployment. Written documentation must be submitted to the VBOA within five days of the test date.
