Licensing requirements

A licensure applicant from Virginia who has passed the CPA exam in Virginia will need to:

Requesting information from the VBOA

Duplicate CPA wall certificate
Request a duplicate CPA wall certificate by logging in on the VBOA website and making a document request.

Education transcripts, experience and/or CPE documentation
The VBOA is not responsible for maintaining a licensee or exam candidate’s education, experience or CPE documentation. It is the responsibility of the licensee and exam candidate.

Transfer CPA exam scores - For exam candidates only
Please send a non-refundable check for $25 to the VBOA along with the CPA Exam Score Transfer Form to transfer scores from Virginia.

Verification of Licensure - For current CPAs only
The Verification of Licensure includes CPA exam scores, confirmation of AICPA Ethics Exam, disciplinary actions and the status of license with the VBOA. A Verification of Licensure transferred to a board of accountancy in another state or jurisdiction can be requested by logging in on the VBOA website. Online requests are $25.

If the Verification of Licensure needs to be sent to an employer, a professional organization, for personal use, etc., the request cannot be made online. For these manual requests, mail a written request with a non-refundable check for $50 to the VBOA.

 

Note: Pursuant to Code of Virginia § 54.1-116, all CPA license applicants must provide a Social Security number or control number issued by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
